Musical Fountain Show in Xi’an, China

Located in the Qujiang New District, A popular tourist attraction in Xi’an is the Big Wild Goose Pagoda (Chinese: 大雁塔; pinyin: Dàyàn Tǎ), a holy place for Buddhist, and themed with structures and buildings reminding us of the once prosperous Tang Dynasty (618–907) era of China. One of the many attractions in the surrounding area is the musical fountain. It’s a free attraction that can be easily missed if you don’t know the show times and happen to arrive when it’s not on. The square has the most benches, the longest light-belt, and the largest-scale acoustic complex in the world. Whenever I’m asked by other travelers what to see in Xi’an, I tell them this area before even mentioning the Terracotta Warriors.

The musical fountain can play over twenty two different styles. There are views from above ground near the Pagoda or you can go right in the action of the fountain itself. With 1024 nozzles shooting out water, you are bound to get wet as some point. The music genres are of Classical, Chinese, and many more. The synchronization’s of the water and music is fascinating; illuminating the sky and water from the lights below in a variety of colors. The momentum and power of the water creates waves and shapes over 60 meters high. Stand directly in the middle of the entire show for the best experience.
